Taking a break...

Not literally of course, just that when I don't get a chance to pick up and play for a day or so then finally do I feel things seem easier. Like my brain and hands just seem refreshed I guess in stead of trying to work straight through on something then get annoyed cause it's not flowing well. Do you guys get that feeling as well?

I have a neurological disease that plays merry hell with my muscle memory. If it's not happening for some reason I pick up a different guitar, sit down/stand up, fiddle with my peddle board or generally try and find some way of getting it flowing again.

Taking a break is obviously the logical approach when things are not going well but in my case it usually means more effort when I come back to it. Your approach is definitely the right approach for normal people :D

I've found with any learned skill that sometimes you do have to walk away from it for a break. Otherwise you begin to burn out and not enjoy it near as much and may even tend to avoid it.
